Kapitalna oprema grupa dr. N. Radića:

1. Magnetronski rasprašivač CMS 18, (nabavljen 2006.)
Rasprašivački system KJLC CMS-18 za pripremu širokog spectra materijala (metala, poluvodiča, dielektrika, metastabilnih uzoraka itd.) u širokom intervalu sastava i struktura. Procesna komora osnovnog tlaka oko 10-8 mbar prilagođena je sa četiri TORUS®3 magnetrona, napajana sa četiri zasebna izvora snage – dva DC magnetrona (0,5 KW DC & 1,0 KW DC) + 2 RF magnetrona (2 x 600 W RF). Nosač supstrata prihvaća pločice dijametra do 6″. Svojstva: prilagodiva udaljenost mete do supstrata, rotacija (do 40 rpm), grijanje do 800°C ili hlađenje na temperaturu LN2 in situ, s DC ili RF naponom.

Novi funkcionalni materijali

Uviđanje ključne uloge koju imaju istraživanja materijala za tehnološki napredak pokazalo se presudnim u ekonomskom razvoju modernih društava. Istraživanje materijala generiralo je brojne inovacije u područjima poput elektronike, informatičkih tehnologija, automobilskog i zračnog prijevoza, biomedicine, pohrane energije te u poslijednje vrijeme i nanotehnologija. Istraživačka jedinica CEMS-a Novi funkcionalni materijali (NFM) biti će posvećen sintezi, karakterizaciji, simulaciji i razvoju novih funkcionalnih materijala radi podrške i implementacije visokotehnoloških industrija u Hrvatskoj. Jedan od ciljeva Centra jest skupiti ekspertina znanja, povezati ljude i ostvariti interdisciplinarno istraživanje sa IRB laboratorijima u području znanosti o materijalima, grupe za razvoj senzora iz Končar – Institut za elektrotehniku d.d., Institut za fiziku i Zavod za fiziku i biofiziku Medicinskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Centar se temelji na već ostvarenim uspješnim istraživanjima materijala pri IRB i partnerskim institucijama, a okupit će vodeće istraživače te izuzetne mlade znanstvenike s novim idejama sinteze, karakterizacije i primjene novih metalnih oksida, poluvodiča, metala, keramika i elektronskih materijala u novim proizvodima. Priređeni materijali namijenjeni su poticanju kako temeljnih tako i primijenjenih istraživanja. Kombinacijom kemijskih i fizikalnih pristupa namjeravaju se ubrzati otkrića novih funkcionalnih materijala kroz inovacije sinteza, mjerenih metoda, modeliranja i primjena. NFM se odlikuje vrhunskom opremom za pripravu i karakterizaciju materijala i kvalitetnim znanstvenicima s čvrstim nastojanjima da se povežu s partnerima iz industrije. NFM će također sudjelovati u pružanju usluga dodatnog obrazovanja u cilju omogućavanja boljeg razvoja Zagreba i okolice, kao i suradnje s partnerskim Centrima izvrsnosti čitave Hrvatske. NFM će također surađivati i sa stručnjacima izvan akademske zajednice i ostvariti veze s vodećim industrijama u Hrvatskoj.
